In 2026 you can claim the servicefradrag deduction for up to DKK 18,300 per person in the household — up from DKK 17,500 in 2025. With a tax value of approx. 26%, a payment of DKK 1,000 for cleaning gives you around DKK 260 back in tax. It is one of the most overlooked subsidies for an easier everyday life.
Here we go through what the new rates mean in real money for your cleaning — and why the deduction is, in practice, the state's reward for choosing legal cleaning over undeclared work.
The 2026 rates
The servicefradrag covers household services — cleaning, window cleaning, childcare and gardening. For cleaning, the key figures in 2026 are:
- Deduction cap: DKK 18,300 per person over 18 in the household (DKK 17,500 in 2025)
- Tax value: about 26% — so you save a good quarter of the wage cost
- The deduction applies only to labour costs — not materials or travel
- If there are two adults in the household, you each have your own deduction — up to DKK 36,600 combined
What does it mean in practice?
Let's run the numbers. If you have regular cleaning every fortnight, you might pay DKK 8,000–10,000 per year in deductible labour costs. With a tax value of about 26%, you get DKK 2,100–2,600 back on your annual tax return — the equivalent of several free cleanings a year.
Put another way: the real hourly price of legal cleaning is noticeably lower than the one you see on the invoice. That's worth keeping in mind when comparing with an undeclared cash rate — which comes with no deduction, no invoice and no insurance.
Only labour costs count — and Hilfr handles that for you
A classic pitfall is reporting the full invoice amount. The deduction applies only to the wage portion — not VAT, materials or fees. At Hilfr you don't have to work it out yourself: under Invoices on your profile, the deductible wage portion is ready to enter at skat.dk (the Danish tax authority).
The conditions are the same as ever: the work must be carried out in your home (year-round or holiday home), payment must be digital, and you must be able to document the expense. All three are automatically in place when you book through Hilfr.
The deduction was made to fight undeclared work
The servicefradrag was introduced precisely to move cleaning and other household services out of the shadow economy and into the legal one. The requirement for digital payment and documentation means the deduction can only be used when tax is paid on the work — and when the person cleaning has rights.
So when you use your servicefradrag, you're not just saving money. You're also helping make cleaning a real job with pension, holiday pay and insurance. We think that's a pretty good deal.
