Jobs at Hilfr

Work at Hilfr

You are employed — not a freelancer — under Denmark’s first platform collective agreement with the trade union 3F. You set your own hourly rate, your own areas and your own hours. Everything you need to know before applying is here: the terms, what we expect, and how you get approved.

  • Employed under the 3F agreement
  • You set your own rate
  • Your own calendar
  • Pension and holiday pay

What does it mean to work at Hilfr?

As a cleaner at Hilfr you are employed by Hilfr.dk ApS on a zero-hour contract under the collective agreement with 3F. You set your own hourly rate — the agreement puts a floor under it at 180.00 DKK an hour — you open and close your own calendar, and you choose which areas you cover. Customers book you directly from your profile, and you are paid once a month with pension, holiday pay and sickness benefit. We are not a temp agency: you are not sent out on jobs, you receive requests from customers who chose you specifically.

Is this right for you?

Be honest with yourself here — it saves us both time. This is real employment with real obligations, and it is not right for everyone.

It suits you if …

  • You want proper terms: a contract of employment, pension, holiday pay and sickness benefit.
  • You want to decide when and how much you work — and to close your calendar when you need to.
  • You are reliable and turn up on time. That is what customers rebook on.
  • You can talk and write to customers in Danish or English.
  • You like working alone in people’s homes and taking responsibility for the job yourself.
  • You want to build a regular clientele over time rather than chase one-off jobs.

It does not suit you if …

  • You need a guaranteed number of hours from day one. Customers choose who they book — we cannot promise you work.
  • You want to be able to send a colleague or a friend in your place. You may not: the customer booked you.
  • You want to arrange payment outside the platform. Then you are not employed, and neither you nor the customer is covered.
  • You do not have the right to work in Denmark, a Danish CPR number and a Danish bank account.
  • You need someone to drive you to jobs or to supply cleaning products. You get yourself there, and the customer has the products.

What does it take?

To be approved as a cleaner at Hilfr you must be able to document your identity, have the right to work in Denmark, and be able to communicate with customers in Danish or English. Cleaning experience is an advantage, but we also hire people without it — reliability weighs more.

How you get approved — step by step

The process is manual all the way through. We speak with every single applicant before the profile is activated — which is also why customers dare to let people into their homes.

  1. You create your profile

    You · about 10 minutes

Sign up as a cleaner here on the site and upload your photo ID. Write a short description of yourself and your experience — that is what customers read first.

  2. We review your profile

Us · depends on the number of applications

We go through your application and your ID by hand and write to you at the email you signed up with. If you do not hear from us, do chase us at support@hilfr.dk — we occasionally lose an email in the inbox.

  3. We have a short phone call

Us and you · 5-10 minutes

Five to ten minutes where we hear about your experience, your languages and when you can work — and where you can ask about anything you are unsure of. It is not an exam.

  4. We approve and activate you

    Us · same day

If you are approved, we activate your profile, you receive your contract of employment and the employee handbook, and we ask for your bank registration and account number and whether you want to use your primary or secondary tax card.

  5. You set your rate and open your calendar

    You · ongoing

Now it is up to you. Set your hourly rate, choose your areas, and open the hours you want to work. Then customers can find you in search and send you requests.

We cannot promise how quickly it goes — it depends both on how many applications we have and on how many customers need help in your area.

What we expect from you

You decide when you work. In return, there are four things we do not compromise on — and all of them are about a customer being able to rely on you.

  1. Keep your calendar honest

Open it when you can work and close it when you cannot. Remember travel time between jobs. A calendar that looks free but where requests get declined is the most common source of bad customer experiences — and it costs you requests over time.

  2. Take the bookings you can

You are not obliged to take jobs outside your open hours. But within them we expect you to say yes when you can — and to reply to requests and messages quickly.

  3. Report absence to BOTH parties — and in advance

If you fall ill or cannot come, both the customer and Hilfr must be told before the booking was due to start. If we do not hear before then, you cannot receive sickness benefit for it. Message the customer in messages and write to us at support@hilfr.dk.

  4. Turn up yourself — every time

You may not send someone else in your place, not even another Hilfr cleaner. The customer chose you from your profile and your reviews. It counts as a serious breach of your employment.

What can I earn — and how much work is there?

We cannot guarantee you a specific number of hours. You are employed on a zero-hour contract, and it is the customers who choose who they book. You set your own hourly wage with a floor of 180.00 DKK an hour, and your wages are paid by Hilfr — not out of the customer’s payment, so a customer who is late paying does not delay your pay.

  1. Set a rate that matches your profile

You set your own hourly wage. If you are brand new and have no reviews, a rate at the lower end can bring more requests to begin with — but the rate is not what customers choose on in the long run. That is the experience on your profile: completed cleanings and good reviews. Raise the rate once you have built those up.

  2. Recurring arrangements are what give stability

Two in three cleanings on the platform belong to a recurring arrangement, and every other week is the most chosen rhythm. Most customers do start with a single visit — but the recurring arrangements are where the work comes from. So one satisfied customer is not one job, but a fixed slot in your calendar for months.

  3. Reviews decide the rest

Your profile shows the number of completed cleanings and an average rating. That is what customers choose on — and you only build it by turning up on time and doing the work properly.
